My son and I went camping a couple of weekends ago when we had a football bye with a buddy of mine and his son. Total dude weekend. Had rain the entire time except for when we set up, hiked, and went canoeing. Probably the most fun we've had in a while. The tent managed to keep us dry and we had warm clothes so that made a huge difference. We brought an awning with us that wasn'r really water proof but it kept the rain off of us enough to play cards and listen to college football on the hand crank radio. It was hard to keep the cigars lit and the bourbon not too watered down. We found 14 salamanders on one hike and a turtle! the boys were excited. Brought my CA knife as well as my blind horse knives small workhorse. Esed the Dalton to feather some sticks and prep some food. Nothing but steak and potatoes for us. We are planning a return trip when the football season is over and trying the backpacking trails.
