I've been getting back into watches again. I like automatic knives and automatic watches.

I like watches. Here are a couple of my favorite quartz movements.
My wife gave me the Cartier as a wedding momento; the TAG Link was for Father's Day. Both have run perfectly for over 20 years.

Nice watches, Dan.

This is the only watch I own. I almost never take it off.

Some sweet time pieces..................It would make since that the most precious thing we have is time, that we measure it by a fine timepiece.

No kidding! I like watches also, I have always been interesting in them since i was kid....I always needed to know what time it was.....now I ask what day it is....just kidding. My first "big" purchase watch was in high school and I spent about $220 for a swiss army officer watch.....beat the shit out of it.....and actually still have it. Next was an aqua racer tag and now have my dads old stainless datejust he bought new for $1850 in 1988....watch sells new for about $5k now! I never take the watch off unless I clean it (can't remember the last time I did that, think I will here in a few) and I've worn it for about 10 years of it's life....it's showing some wear, but I don't really care all that much...gives it some character. It's just a very solid and simple.......and not flashy.

always liked watches but never kept one on for more than 3 weeks. Starting to wear them again. I'm wearing a crappy polo watch for now but got another watch coming my way right now.

I've been wanting an automatic, preferrably with a carbon fiber backing, not toooo expensive, any brand recommendations?

Awhile back I was looking to buy another watch and felt like the Oris line was pretty cool for the money. You should check out the Oris TT3 for around $650, auto, carbon, rubber bands....the quality seems to be really good for the money, I believe the only minor drawback in my opinion is it's a push/pull crown versus a screw...I'm thinking that's the case on the Oris. Another nice auto is the Hamilton line, they are putting out some really nice affordable autos...starting around $300...I think they also have a watch with a carbon dial...but it's going to be substantially more expensive.
