A dozen one-of-a-kind customs, a limited run of 10, 13, 20 pieces. How do you decide which ones to buy???

I know there's a couple of guys who'll get almost ALL of them, but what about the rest of you guys? What makes you buy the ones that you do buy? Which ones do you take a pass on? If you had more available cash, would you buy more?

When I first started to collect Dalton's, I wanted every knife Rob made. I quickly realized he made more knives than I made money! laugh3 Luckily for me, the focus of my collection shifted over to custom autos and I no longer had to have every knife he put out. IF, I had the money, there's a LOT of his knives I'd like to add to my collection, but since I DON'T have it, I don't have the knives either. :(
Every once in a while Rob does make one that catches my eye, and I do buy it. Not because it's a "Dalton", but purely because I really like a perticular knife, and would buy it no matter who made it.

I think it would be cheaper to be addicted to coacaine than to be a Dalton collector. If I could, I would get every model that came out but as it is, I only get the ones that are really exciting to me. The problem is, I like most of the knives he releases, and could buy them all. Plus, there are tons of old models that I want in my collection so a lot of times he comes out with a new model and an older one pops up that I really like and I have a choice to make. I usually go for the older one because I think that a newer model will be around for a little bit but this doesn't always work out. It is a vicious cycle sometimes but all part of the fun.

I tend to focus on the older stuff, but there are a few of the new models I get if it flips my switch!

I find myself making a lot of excuses like oh I should be getting a tax refund or my birthday is coming up or I'll buy this one and take it easy for awhile. Eventually, it comes to a point where you can't make enough excuses and have to do without. That is why I like seeing collection shots because no two collections are alike. I haven't had to pass on any of the newer left handed models yet. Love those lefties. @#$%** ILK

Pedestrian tastes yield mediocre results.Visionary perspectives see the enduring meaning buried beneath the transitory appeal of commercial value.Rob creates freakish, Jack-in -Box Art that stands alone in an age of creative desolation and will be remembered long after the sun becomes a Frozen Snowball. Daltons are the only modern day knives i buy. I have alot of vintage Schrade, Prestos, and other old Americans and a very few Italians, but try and save bucks for Daltons and if I'm lucky to find one a Huck every now and then. I'm still one of those people who save coins and still pick up pennies off the ground thinking it's one step closer to a new blade. I'm tighter than bark on a tree but only because I'm always saving for a new knife, usally a Dalton.
